As many of us older ones will remember, the 15th of April 1989 was a truly terrible day - the world changed forever. 96 people lost their lives whilst attending an FA Cup semi-final football match between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool FC at the Hillsborough stadium, in a horrendous crush at one end of the pitch, when too many people were guided into an area that was already full.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the disaster and raise funds for the Hillsborough Family Support Group, a commemorative CD has been produced and James has contributed a version of the song on the 4 track CD.

As James said at Liverpool last night, which drew appropriate support, it doesn't matter two hoots what your football colours are (as you can see from the CD sleeve below), buy this CD to support both a worthy cause and to remember what happened that truly awful day.

The CD called Fields of Anfield Road will be available to download from iTunes from the 6th April and physical copies will go on sale on the 15th April.

There's a Word document, linked at the bottom right hand corner of the page, that is an eye witness account of events that day in April.

It isn't easy reading, but it's very powerful and moving - and worth reading to get some understanding of what happened:

I remember that terrible day. I was staying in a tiny caravan outside a friend's house near Dumfries and I recall watching the news and hearing about the tragic events at Hillsborough.

They were talking about this on Radio 4 the other morning.

It was an horrendous day.
