Starsailor Message Board

It is with tremendous sadness, after working for Starsailor for 8 years, that I post this announcement.

It has been decided, with great regret, that the message board can no longer be supported while the band is taking a break. It had been hoped that by this point in time work would have started on the next Starsailor project.

However James has been so keen to pursue his solo projects that the opportunity has not yet arisen and consequently, the other members of the band are taking on other projects themselves and have put the band on a back burner for the foreseeable.

My contract with Starsailor was concluded at the end of April and arrangements to put the message board into hibernation will now be put into place. It is hoped that it can be resurrected and fully activated again when the band start work on new projects.

We're well aware how important this place is to many of us and this is a task we've undertaken with very heavy hearts. We don't want to just close the message board, it has been a great resource for both the band and their fans, with such shared joy after gigs, lifelong friendships formed and even marriages resulting from this community. People have travelled the globe out of their love for the band and I know that many of us have had life changing and incredible experiences where Starsailor were the catalyst.

I also know for certain that the constant support and loyalty of this community has been really appreciated by the band, especially so in the lean times when you never once lost your belief in them.

Future arrangements for the message board:

So, to the practicalities - the various permissions on the forums will be amended in a week or so, so that all the forums except Anything You Like and Gigs & Lyrics, will be closed to new posting and only already registered and activated members will be able to continue to post in those 2 forums. The other forums will remain available to read, but you won't be able to post in them.

As my official representation of the band will now end, the message board will be left to run without 'moderation'. New members can potentially still register, but those new members won't be activated and therefore won't be able to post, so you may see web sites and inappropriate content in new profiles, but this can't be avoided as I don't have the option to prevent registration completely.

Finally, to update you on what the boys are doing:

Ben is currently enjoying passing on his love of drumming through teaching. Barry is having a well earned rest and looking forward to the imminent arrival of his 2nd child. Stel is producing, playing and propping up the bar in equal measures. For James news see http://twitter.com/jamesstarsailor

I know that you'll join me in wishing them each the very best for their future adventures and to thank them heartily for all the joy and wonderful times they've given us to date and that we're looking forward to something new from them when the time is right.

I have now amended the permissions on this forum so that no one can post here other than an Admin. The forum will be left so that anyone can still read it, but topics cannot be replied to, or new topics started.

The Anything you Like and Gigs and Lyrics forums will remain open to registered members.

From now, no new members registering will be activated. Only already activated members can post here on the MB.
