Per Pollstar, Tim Burgess is no longer support on the US tour starting in Detroit tomorrow.... anyone know for sure whether this is true? It would be a bit of a blow.

Winter eather advisory for Detroit - as a word of warning to the guys - there is 4 inches of snow on the ground and it is snowing like the clappers at the moment. Temperatures tomorrow are forecast to be on the very chilly side - who thought of a US tour in the mid-west in January????!!!!

Anyways, thanks for coming to Detroit guys, it's been too long. I'm really looking forward to the show.

Cheers, Degsy

I haven't had any official word on revisions to the support for the tour, so this news isn't formal, but from messages I'm getting and gleaning it from venue web sites etc., it looks like Tim isn't supporting the tour, but two artists are splitting the venues between them; Johnathan Rice and Matthew Ryan.

I'll see if I can firm up an official answer tomorrow, I've pestered everyone enough for one day and they deserve some peace.

I heard about the snow, the boys should have landed in Detroit recently. I hope they have their thermals packed. I doubt it.

This was posted on Tim's website...

" Hello Everyone & Happy New Year,
Thanks to all of you that have supported my record,
came to the shows & got yer self one of those cool,
'Never Too Drunk To Funk' t-shirts!!!
So, first off, I really need to clear up some
scheduled tour dates... I am really sorry I missed the
2 shows at Earl's Court on the 16th & 17th of
December. The reason, I couldn't perform at those 2
particular shows was because of a personal family
misfortune amongst a member in my band...
As for the US Starsailor gigs starting on the 15th of
January, well that's a complicated one... but mainly
it's due to schedule conflicts & the fact that,
'I Believe' has not yet been released in America. It's
difficult to tour when you don't have a record out
there to reference & support...
I am good friends with Starsailor & have always had
the best times whilst being on the road with them. I
truly appreciate the offering to play with them & am
really upset about not being able to make this tour.
My most sincere apologies go out to Starsailor & to
all of you that were expecting to see me in the states
this time around...
I will have to make it up in the early part of the
year...!
Also be on the look out for a new Charlatans record
due out early next year.

So, 2004 - let's have some more - more peace,
happiness & good music!"

Much Cheers, Tim

Degsy, I can now officially confirm that tonight and for the next few nights, Starsailor will be supported on their tour dates by Johnathan Rice - and later on the tour by Matthew Ryan.

See http://www.johnathanrice.com/jr_home.html for Johnathan and http://www.matthewryanonline.com/ for details on Matthew.

I dont understand why bands come here in winter time. Confused

I'm seeing the thrills, starsailor, stereophonics from jan 10th to feb 10th and it is the coldest period of the year.

they should come in summer time. cos montreal is the best city of the world when it's sunny Cool
