Review:
The show was pretty steady overall. The lights went down and Shark Food began to play over the P.A. system, then about 30 seconds before the "We're stepping through the door" part, the band came on stage, and instead of starting the song over again they kicked in right where the P.A. left off, it was an awesome opener. Immediately following Shark Food was one of their strongest songs, Music Was Saved.
Hearing Alcoholic and Poor Misguided Fool made me like those songs again after hearing them live. James introduced Fidelity as "a song about fidelity, and this song is called Fidelity". After Lullaby the band went off-stage for cigarrettes while James gave us two solo acoustic numbers. I did not recognize either so I just assumed they were covers. Either way, these covers were both incredible so I'd love to find out which songs they are.
Four to the Floor is my least favourite song of theirs so hearing that wasn't a big thrill. Tie Up in My Hands was really good as it always is, then Silence Is Easy was great! The band went crazy for that song, tons of energy.
They came back on stage and played my #2 least favourite track, Fever. I was hoping to hear Coming Down or Restless Heart. James said Fever was going to be there last song but it seemed everybody knew that they were going to sneak Good Souls in there. And surely enough, the opening chords began and the band went crazy. That song is f*****g amazing, and live it's incredible. James added in solos and Ben was going crazy on the drums. As it always is, a perfect way to end the show.
The show was an 'early show' for some reason so it went from 7:30 to 9:00. I didn't get a chance to catch the opening act but I hear he was good.

Delighted to hear that you all had a good time, it sounds like another wonderful night.
I read your comment about telling Stel about the 'best hair' votes Becky, I'd also sent a message back to him (but it won't have reached him yet) about it, thinking it would amuse him, but largely the others who keep giving him grief about his hair. It'll be really funny if he ends up winning it. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive at Starsailor.net

Not sure about the first cover, but the second one was a Springsteen song, Thunder Road I believe. Definitely an amazing show! |

Or was it Springsteen's Atlantic City, he's done that a few times very recently?
N.B. I'm not familiar with either song, so even I'd been stood there, I'd be none the wiser! _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive at Starsailor.net

Nice review, Mike... Strange about the early show and all... Strange to have a concert right before the Saturday night dance party started...
Such a great show. So fantastic. Good Souls was the highlight of my evening, no question...
(The Guvernment is an infinitely better venue than The Pheonix - I felt like livestock in a pen in the AOM drinking area, though...)
Lynns.

hehe, sorry. I shoudl clarify. I meant to say that Fever was my 2nd least favourite track of the night. I really like the chorus during the "man I must have been blind to carry a torch through most of my life" part, but the rest is sort of bland in my opinion.
Good to know one of the covers. I don't know much Springsteen but the cover James did was great.
