I've increased the number of poll options to be able to do this in one section. I've only included the tracks commited to releases (apart from remixes) or original Starsailor songs, not the various live covers they do. Let me know if I've forgotten anything. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive at Starsailor.net

I explained my selection criteria in the opening post - that I only included proper complete or released recordings or original songs - I don't think Don't Stop Movin' was really a 'Starsailor song' - they would be the first to admit it was only for fun. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive at Starsailor.net

|
|
hi everyone!
i am a brand new starsailor fan. i found out about them on a british message board i visit frequently. i listed to some clips on the website and my jaw dropped. it was love at first listen. that doesn't happen much for me anymore, at least with new music. i am a huge fan of jeff buckley, david gray and spacehog, and those were the musicians that came to mind at first listen.
is there any way for me to get the other songs that are listed on the poll. "the way young lovers do"?! i would love to hear that! the jeff buckley lp, "live at sine" is my favorite jeff recording i think, and "the way young lovers do is one of my all time favorite jeff renditions.
well, i was just sitting here being blown away once more listening to starsailor, and i thought i want to talk to some fans! so here i am. _________________ If you like, visit my Music Community |

Hi and welcome! These are some details on the songs in the latter half of the list:
The Way Young Lovers Do - Cover of the Van Morrison song (also done by Jeff Buckely) which was a B side on the Good Souls CD single
Grandma's Hands - cover of a Bill wither's song, B side on CD2 of Alcoholic single
From a Whisper To A Scream - original Starsailor song, B side on Lullaby single
Let It Shine - original Starsailor song, B side on alcoholic CD1
Born Again - new original song, B side on Poor Misguided Fool single
Some Of Us - original track, regularly performed live
Silence Is Easy - new original song, performed live this summer for the first time and likely to be on the second album.
Hot Burrito #2 - cover of the Hot Burrito Brothers track (is it a Gram Parsons song?) - often performed live and an audio of it is on the PMF DVD single. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive at Starsailor.net

knockitdown -- Welcome to the board. Most of the singles are on Amazon.co.uk for a pretty reasonable price (around $10 including shipping to the US). Also, they're up on Ebay periodically. They're worth the price for the b-sides and artwork, I think. _________________

thank you so much for the info guys! i really appreciate it. i love collecting singles, but as i said i'm a new fan so.... plus, i don't know how popular they have been in america at this point either, so the singles may be too hard for me to find in the stores. i think i will check out some online stores before they're all gone! thanks again _________________ If you like, visit my Music Community |

Another place worth trying for overseas fans is a local mail order retailer here in the UK called Townsend Records. I must claim a slight interest in that I have worked closely with them on various exclusive releases for another artists, so know them well, but I have found that they give overseas fans especially, very good service so I'm happy to recommend them on that basis alone - I have sent an awful lot of people to them in recent years and not one has been unhappy with the service they've received - and I know because I ask for feedback.
Their web site is at http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/ and they have various Starsailor singles etc on there and the Starsailor page is at http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/acatalog/Townsend_Catalogue_Starsailor_939.html
There is an interesting Starsailor connection with them as well - their first shop was in Chorley town centre and James bought his Neil Young records from them and some day in the past told the proprietor that one day he'd be selling his records - and he is!! Although they know me well, they don't know me as 'Boo. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive at Starsailor.net
