Starsailor are now confirmed to play as special guest to James Blunt on the second half of his major US tour, starting in 10 days time. I've copied some of the US press release below as I thought you'd like to see it.
On 4th October 2006 - New York, NY – Starsailor wrapped up the 1st leg of their wildly successful North American Tour on Monday night in San Diego and will now join James Blunt on the road beginning on the 13th October at the Merriweather Post Pavilion outside of Washington D.C. The band will be the special opening act for the remainder of James Blunt's U.S. tour for a total of 29 more Starsailor performances in the U.S. and Canada.
"Our tour here in the states as been fantastic," commented singer/guitarist James Walsh. "We're glad we can continue performing to our die-hard fans here and introduce ourselves to Blunt's audience as well."
Since the release of On the Outside in August in the U.S. Starsailor has taken over the national television airwaves performing their current single "In The Crossfire" on: The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.
With their third and strongest album to date the band has reached a creative peak with People Magazine proclaiming: "'In The Crossfire', set this U.K. quartet off on the right course for a disc that puts them solidly behind Coldplay and Keane in the race for Britpop supremacy." – September 11, 2006.
LA Weekly raved: "Walsh's commanding presence on Starsailor's new album, On the Outside, lifts the band's superbly crafted tales of faith, hope, love and home into the realm of the spine-tingling." - September 27, 2006.
USA Today remarked: "Outside rides along at a spirited clip in such lush tunes as the U2-inspired Faith Hope Love, upbeat In The Crossfire and Counterfeit Life, a lively anti-materialism rant stokes by guitar distortion." - August 28, 2006
Taking their name from the title of a Tim Buckley LP, Starsailor have enjoyed an immense amount of success since the release of their debut album Love Is Here in 2002. Both their debut album and its follow up – Silence Is Easy (which featured two tracks produced by the legendary Phil Spector) were both platinum sellers in the UK. The group has developed a die hard following all around the world due to their lengthy touring schedule, solid musicianship and amazing songs. Their current album On the Outside was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Rob Schnapf (Beck, The Vines, Elliott Smith)

Wow, this will definitely be great exposure for the band!
WHY OH WHY DID JAMES BLUNT CANCEL THE DATE IN PITTSBURGH!?
I know I'll sound like a music elitist.... but I'm a bit apprehensive about this. Starsailor is kind of my "unique" thing I have amongst my friends and definitley a lot of people in America. If they become big here, I would feel like I lost that "uniqueness." Selfish, yes. Irrational, maybe. But I guess that would lead to more opportunity to seeing them here... I don't know... I want the best for them, I really do! Eh... I'm jumping the gun. Nothing has even happened yet. |

My mum first thought I was saying that James Blunt were going to support Starsailor and when I explained it was the other way round she was rather indignant _________________

Please note that I've added an extra date to the tour in LA the following day from the one already scheduled - it looks a little like clumsy posting, but there are two on consecutive days.
They've also confirmed a performance slot on CD:USA on 16th November in LA.
See http://cdusa.com/ for show and channel information - as well as http://www.myspace.com/cdusa - if you're in the LA area, you may be able to apply for tickets to the show, see: http://www.1iota.com/show.aspx?sid=53 - but they don't go that far forward yet, you'll need to keep an eye on it nearer the time. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive the official fan archive at Starsailor.net

I propose that we wrestle them from him and burn them before this second leg of US dates - for the sake of the rest of the band's health. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive the official fan archive at Starsailor.net
