Very special acoustic event:
Further to comments that the US has recently been very spoiled by all the wonderful acoustic performances James did recently and those he will do during the upcoming SXSW week, he thought it would be nice to warm up amongst loyal friends here in the UK and will therefore play a small, intimate, wholly acoustic set in London, immediately before he jets off to Texas.
This will be at The Fly on New Oxford Street on Monday 12th March. Also on the bill is New World Record and A Beggar's Opera.
James will do a solo acoustic set, just with an acoustic guitar for around 30-40 minutes. Tickets are only £5 each plus £1.75 booking fee and are very limited due to the small venue. Doors are 7:30pm. Please note that it's an 18+ venue.
Venue: The Fly, 36-38 New Oxford Street, London, WC1A 1EP
Tickets can be bought from the Barfly website through Ticketweb

Ticket Line: 0870 9070999

Boo, when do you think James will be off stage by? It's the getting home that is stopping me buying tickets. |

I highly recommend getting tickets just for New World Record - I saw them there last monday, and already have tickets for next monday! I knew there was a "special headline TBA" never dreamed it would be so good!
Given the timings for last monday, I would imagine James will be on about 10:15-11:00 at the latest!
It is the samllest venue I have been in - I expect it will be packed!
See you there! |

I just wouldn't be prepared to commit to a time - even if I had one officially - that could be relied on for travel, in view of the small venue and informal nature of the event, nothing I could tell you could be relied upon to that extent.
As alrklein suggests, you can just work it out yourself - if it's doors at 7:30pm, the first band won't start for at least half an hour (small venues need bar takings with modestly priced tickets like that) - if you allow a nominal minimum time of an hour for each band with changeover, that's going to take the earliest James will finish to after 11pm. It could well be that before he starts. But your guess is as good as mine, only you can decide if it's worth risking. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive the official fan archive at Starsailor.net

I can just report back what happened last monday - times were published at the door, so I should imagine they are pretty standard.
First Band 8:30-9:00
Second Band 9:20 - 10:00
left then, but the sign said curfew at 11:00, so I imagine main band was on about 10:15.
This is a very small venue - bands often share equipment, and do their own setting up and taking down of equipment, tuning etc.
James is doing acoustic, so little setup to do.
The venue is very friendly, and will, I am sure, confirm times. Here is their myspace link:

Seen them twice now - very good, although I have to say the acoustics at The Junction are better than at The Fly.
pm me if anyone would like a couple of the tracks they play |
