Hi everyone!
Back to Lyon, under a grey sky...
Spent a top evening on Friday, and was glad to meet up with Dorothee, Mandie, Jean-Michel and Marjorie, though I lost you right after the gig, I would have liked to see you lots again, such a shame...
(There were so many people there that it was even difficult to move from one stage to the other and to get out try and find some food or drinks...)
I hope you all got back home safely.
Did anyone manage to get a blue bracelet pass for the fnac dedications after the gig?
I absolutely adored the show, even if the festival format does not allow much liberty (no encores). Can't remember at the end of which song James sang a few Kim Wilde "Keep me hanging on" lyrics, but it sounded great!
Awesome cover of "Last Goodbye", I think everyone will agree if I say James's voice is a gorgeous gift of nature?
I don't want to tone down the atmosphere of that magical evening, but though we all know Stel is a talented bass player, there's not much point in setting his bass at full blast, most of the people around me were covering their ears with their hands and my eardrums (even with earplugs) and my whole body were vibrating from inside, quite painful actually. A guy in front of me asked a security guy to say a few words to the sound engineer and the reply was "the level of sound is normal", which I think was not quite right...
If we want to be able to listen to Starsailor's & other artists' music, we have to keep good eardrums and the level of sound should be more controlled in gigs on a general point of view.
Sorry about spoiling the fun once again, but it's not because you love an artist that you are ready to become deaf after a gig!
Anyway, I have to say a big thank you to the lovely little 13-ish lad who was standing beside me with his dad and kept smiling to me all along the gig. I swear he knew ALL THE LYRICS BY HEART (wondering whether he is English of French).
Have a good day!

Hi,
I was at the gig as well and I have to agree with you Isa, during some songs the sound was way too loud (I'm not sure whether it was the bass or drums though).
After fighting my way through the crowd, I was lucky enough to attend the signing even though I didn't manage to get a pass and I was surprised to see that James and Stel remembered me from previous gigs
My pictures turned out great. I'll post a few of them if I figure out how to do it |

Lucky you Lucile!
Are you the girl with a huge camera I talked to before the gig who was standing just behind me on my left?
About the sound, it was definitely the bass which were way too loud...
If you could post a few of your pix, that would be fantastic!! _________________ And everytime I see the sun go down, I think of you... |

No, I don't think we talked. I was on the front row at the centre of the stage slightly on the right.
As for the pictures, I'm going to try and upload them but bear with me I'm no good when it comes to using a computer! |

Thanks for your review, Isa ! Happy you had a great time! I totally agree with you about the sound at the gigs. It's unbearable most of the time . I wear ear plugs at every gig and, even with them, it's difficult. The sound on the videos I take at the gigs with the dig cam show very well. Don't know why the sound engineers do that. Do they want to make all of us deaf or what ? |
