In the interests of ease of updating, the FAQ forum has been removed, as it wasn't accessed very often. But there are still many Starsailor questions that I get asked on a regular basis and the FAQ page on the Good Souls site will still be maintained. Have a look here to see if your Starsailor question is covered, before posting, it may well already be answered.
The Starsailor FAQ page can also be accessed from the links in the signature that appears on all of my posts. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive at Starsailor.net

Can I have an avatar please?
How do I enable an avatar or my profile?
Are there any restrictions in what I can use for an avatar?
I have to enable avatars manually on your profile myself, they are not available automatically on this board. You need to establish a good posting record and pass newbie status (50 posts) before you can use an avatar. At such time, ask me to enable it and I will do so, and when you visit your profile page again, it will now show an avatar control panel that wasn't there before and a link to 'show gallery' - which allows you to choose a standard Starsailor avatar.
You can have an externally hosted file as your avatar instead, but you must observe some considerations; you must have permission to link to the file - some free hosts simply don't allow it, so it wouldn't show and it may be a copyright image that someone wouldn't want you using - it must be around 65 x 65 pixels in physical dimensions-ish and be no more than about 6KB in data size - the file size is more important than the physical page dimensions, as long as it doesn't distort the page layout. Be considerate to your fellow users when choosing animations, or flashing graphics - avoid where possible. You simply type or paste the URL into the window in your avatar control panel.
If you have an idea/image that there isn't a file for or you can't get your graphic hosted, let me have it by e-mail (link below all my posts) and I'll prepare and upload the file for you. If you have a Starsailor photo in mind that you'd like making into one, I can do that too - but it must either be your own, or an official one, including any of mine (there are some I reserve the right not to be used) - but in the case of official photos, I must prepare and host them on the record label server and any that are specially prepared and hosted in this way must not be used on any other message boards or blogs. _________________ Keeper of Good Souls Interactive at Starsailor.net

How do I post images on here?
In order to post a photo on the message board, it needs to be hosted on the web somewhere and you then copy and paste the full URL of the image file into your post and wrap it in image tags to embed it in your post, without the tags it becomes a clickable link to the image instead.
Thus: Code: | [img]http://www.FULL-URL-OF-IMAGE.jpg[/img] |
To ascertain the URL of the image, navigate to it on the web, right click the image itself and one of the menu items that pops up will give you the option for 'properties' this will show the full URL, just highlight and copy this - ready to paste it into your post. Some photo-sharing hosts actually put the image URL beneath it ready for copying. The full URL of the image will start http:// and end with either .jpg or .gif - if it doesn't, it might not show up properly.
The place on the web where you put the image file must allow remote linking to files, free web hosts like Geocities, Tripod and Angelfire do not and your image will not show up.
There are however a lot of free photo sharing hosts now available, below are some popular ones. If you already have a Yahoo! identity for chat or groups, your account will already include a photo album, so next time you're logged in, look for a link to photos and it will take you directly to your album, probably asking for your password again at some stage.
